Observation

Bus drivers must remain constantly aware of their surroundings, keeping a lookout for pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, road signage, changing traffic signals, and potential hazards such as construction work or sudden weather changes.

Planning

Effective planning helps drivers anticipate and prepare for upcoming situations, such as lane changes, stops, or congestion. Proper planning minimises sudden movements, offering passengers a smoother and safer ride.

Anticipation

Anticipating potential hazards is a crucial skill. By recognising possible risks, like pedestrians stepping into crossings or other vehicles merging into traffic, drivers can adjust their actions in advance, creating a safer environment for everyone on the road.
